Gillis Curses Luongo – Caught on Tape!

Did Mike Gillis Really Say That?

Following the final game of the second round series between the Canucks and the Blackhawks, the cameras caught Mike Gillis uttering something to assistant GM Laurence Gilman.  Gord McIntyre of The Province wrote an entire post on The White Towel based on the idea that Gillis’ exact words were “f— Luongo.”

Now, I’m not interested in debating the merits of Luongo’s 12-year contract. I just want to find out if that’s really what he said.  Upon examination, it’s clear that he’s swearing at something, but is the second word really “Luongo?”  The clip is shown below, so lip readers, help us interpret!

    Um… no that was what he said at all. Your lips make a specific motion when pronouncing the letter “L” and his lips did not do that.
