HTTN Panel: NHL Conference Finals
Written on May 18, 2010 at 09:02, by HTTN
After being disappointed time and time again by the TSN Panel’s lack of insight, HTTN has decided to form its own panel of sports experts. Our team is made up of many of the premier sports authorities we have been in contact with over the years. Our mission statement: If you seek sports enlightenment, the HTTN Panel is your salvation.
HTTN Panelist Bio’s
Anders: Hailing from the Netherlands, Anders is an expert field
hockey player. Upon moving to Canada, he has completely embraced the country as his home, and its national sport as his favourite pastime. Lost in translation to him is the fact that the “Canadiens” are not Canada’s national team.
Greg: Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Greg has been drinking beer and watching hockey his whole life. He is as qualified as anyone on TV, and much more intelligent.
Saj: Not many people can say they’ve seen their team win 5 Stanley Cups,
but Saj can. Hailing from the City of Champions, Saj has seen hockey at its best. He could also use a psychologist, as he’s fully stuck in the past, reliving those childhood memories over and over again.
HTTN Panel’s “The Test” – NHL Conference Finals Edition
HTTN: Who is the best player in the NHL playoffs right now?
Anders: Halak. Go Canadiens!
Saj: I guess Jon Toews, but no one wears the ‘C’ like Messier used to.
Greg: Even though the Flyers are going to beat him, I’m going with Halak. The best players don’t always win, right? Just look at Dan Marino
HTTN: Who is going to win the series between the San Jose Sharks and Chicago Blackhawks?
Anders: I think hawks usually eat fish,
but this time, the Sharks are going to take a bite out of the Blackhawks.
Saj: Whoever has the luckier goalie – aka the “better” goalie, according to the media .
HTTN: Saj, as of now, you are a member of the media. You’d better stop with the derogatory comments.
Greg: Sharks. Two reasons: 1. Kane is ugly, and 2. He and Madden partied too hard with their shirts off after winning the 2nd round in Vancouver.
HTTN: Who will win the series between the Philadelphia
Flyers and Montreal Canadiens?
Anders: The Flyers are better – but the Canadiens will win!
Saj: Whoever has the luckier goalie…
Greg: Flyers. Halak’s run has to end soon….he’s half as good as Patrick Roy, at best. Roy won 4 rounds with the Habs, so Halak will only win 2.
HTTN: Can Jaroslav Halak singlehandedly stop the firepower of Mike Richards, Simon Gagne, Danny Briere, and Jeff Carter?
Saj: No idea, but I do know no one could stop the likes of Gretzky, Messier, and Kurri. Now THAT was firepower.
Anders: Halak is the best goalie but those guys are all from my country. We Canadians are unstoppable.
Greg: Gagne, Briere, Carter and Richards because 4 > 1. It’s standard grade 3 math.
HTTN: The NHL has proposed a new summer league: 3-on-3, no goalies, goals scored by hitting posts and crossbars only. Which line would win? Marleau-Thornton-Heatley or Kane-Toews-Byfuglien?
Anders: Definitely the Sharks line because all 3 are Canadian and have Olympic gold medals to prove they are better.
Greg: Marleau, Thornton, Heatley – because I’m not able to pronounce the name starting with B, and I don’t want to sound like a hockey noob.
Saj: I can’t tell, they’re both ridiculously awesome lines, even internationally. Except for Byfuglien who wouldn’t make any international squad unless he always played against the Canucks, or was eligible for Team Kazakhstan.
