HTTN Panel Returns
HTTN: Kevin Bieksa signed a 5-year deal with the Canucks for an average of $4.6 million/year. Considering he could’ve got $5 million plus on the open market, how do you think Mike Gillis convinced him to take the discount?
Anders: $4.6 million is a discount? He might have gotten $50,000 more on the open market. The only idiot who’d turn down a contract over a dumb amount like that is Ryan Smyth.
Saj: Gillis probably told him he could continue to fight guys smaller than him and duck guys bigger than him without being chastised by the team, as it’s part of their culture.
Editor’s Note: Don’t forget that Saj is from Edmonton and a die-hard Oilers fan. They are a very bitter people.
Anders: Bieksa isn’t going anywhere without his “roommates” Kesler and Burrows.
HTTN: We all know what derailed Tiger’s career, but Mike Wier has slid to become the 437th ranked golfer in the world. What’s responsible for his demise?
Greg: He has no motivation anymore….without Tiger, what’s the point of playing golf? You’d be more famous being in the front row of a Justin Bieber concert.
Saj: Perhaps he has spent some time in Vancouver and caught the loser bug.
Anders: He’s just taking full advantage of the “no matter what you do in the rest of your career, no one can ever take away your Major championship” status, like any normal person would do.
HTTN: Rory McIlroy may be the next great golfer. To me, he just doesn’t have the look of an athlete. What do you think?
Greg: I’m pretty sure he’s the identical twin of my “sandwich artist” at Subway.
Anders: John Daly doesn’t look like a golfer either, and he turned out pretty well! Oh wait…
Saj: Doesn’t he look like that kid on Rugrats?

HTTN: Both Venus and Serena Williams lost on the same day in the round of 16 at Wimbledon. Any advice for them?
Saj: Siblings who can’t win? Sounds like the Sedins!
Editor’s Note: might have to suspend you, Saj…
Greg: Talk to Federer – he’s great at being in denial and living in the past.
Anders: I don’t want to say anything mean in case Serena comes to my house and crushes me with her bare hands.
HTTN: The Oilers were the worst team in the NHL last year. Is Ryan Smyth the answer to their problems?
Anders: Smyth is being brought in as a mentor for Eberle and Hall, but not for what you think! He’s teaching them how to cry fake tears for when they inevitably decide to ditch Deadmonton.
Greg: The Oilers have obviously accepted that they’ll never be the best at hockey, so they’re going for number 1 in other categories, like hair.

Saj: Ryan Smyth is God. He can do anything.
HTTN: On Monday it was announced that Pierre McGuire is leaving TSN to work for NBC and Versus next year. How does that make you feel?
Anders: NBD, they can replace him with his more entertaining twin.

Greg: I’ll miss him. Just as every hockey game has it’s “Monster,” TSN needs it’s own.
Saj: Choosing more money over a higher viewership? Where have we heard this before, Canucks fans? Bahaha, who gets the last laugh, now??
