Former Jays star takes colour commentary radio job

-by David Kloepfer

Sportsnets’ Shi Davidi tweeted this morning Blue Jays alumni Jack Morris will replace Alan Ashby as the colour commentator for FAN590 Jays radio broadcasts.

Morris earned two World Series rings with the Jays in 1992 and 1993, and accumulated the most wins of any pitcher in the 1980′s. He also gave up the most hits, homeruns and earned runs over that same period.

Morris has some colour commentating experience with his hometown Minnesota Twins, who he played one season for in 1991 before signing with the Blue Jays.

I have no idea how Morris is as a commentator, but Ashby was awesome. Morris has big shoes to fill.

Other Jays news:

Sportsnet will be broadcasting all of the Jays spring training games this year, which will be a nice change from them broadcasting the Yankees. I guess they want to back their major offseason acquisitions by investing the extra $10.00 it costs to flip on the friggin’ camera in Dunedin. Go figure.
