Djokovic vs. Nadal: Tennis Finals On Monday!
Written on September 13, 2010 at 10:10, by HTTN

Let’s be honest, it blows that the final of the U.S. Open was moved to Monday, because we’re at work, and the match starts at 1 P.M. PST. But hold on one second – it may actually be the best thing for the match and the tournament.
Consider that Nadal has not dropped a single set over the tournament, and he definitely had an easier draw through to Monday, with his toughest test coming against Fernando Verdasco in the quarter-finals. The number 1 seed also played the first semi-final on Saturday, and is as fresh and ready as he could possibly be.
Djokovic on the other hand just completed a marathon 5-setter against 6-time U.S. Open finalist, Roger Federer. Had he been forced to play on Sunday, it’s not likely that he would have been able to keep up with his already faster, fitter opponent across the net. As if his hands weren’t full enough already, his fatigue would have decided the match before it began.
Now that the match will be played today, it should be a good one. Djokovic’s ground strokes are just as good as Nadal’s, and his serve is better when it’s on. Both are renowned for the return games, but Djokovic has an incredible ability to put nearly every ball back in play. It’s very similar to what Juan Martin del Potro did to both Nadal and Federer in winning at this tournament last year.

Nadal’s edge – he’s definitely better at the net, and he’s hungrier. He wants this title so badly, and he knows how to step up in big moments. The guy is a human pitbull, and Djokovic is going to need every ounce of composure he has in order to beat him.
By this point, I’m sure you are plotting your escape from work for the afternoon. Some excuses that were offered to me via twitter:
@korvan: food poisoning. No one asks questions when vomit is involved.
@KrispyKrisy: pink eye?
to which @qnlDave replied: Although you may not be asked to come back. But hey, you’d get to go home early.
@KrispyKrisy: better yet diarrhea! Lol there u go – no questions..
Hope this helps!
